PHIL WARD 7'0 4/5
Phil Ward Surfboards 4 out of 5
7'0 x 20 1/4 x 2 5/8
"My version of a San Diego speed egg.
Again, a Rich Pavel template and design. He made me a mind melting version of this ten years back and I have one with me all the time now.
The essence of an everyday board, hence the name. The 4/5 is both the thinking man’s step up to enjoy the paddle power and a longer rail line as much as if can be the longboarders’ short board.
A more pulled in nose and tail than the Huervo and well suited to both vertical surfing in the pocket and open-faced carving.
Bottom contours can be anything from an aggressive vee/double concave (my preference) to a roll/panel vee.
Whilst designed as a quad, it is suited to thruster, single with sides, twin or twinzer set ups.
As suited to Sydney beach breaks as it is a big be board travel option. Take one to Indo or Fiji - you’ll be surprised.
Wave range: Waist high to well overhead.
